Plan e-commerce operations alongside the store
See how catalog, inventory, orders, delivery and returns shape the customer experience.
Identify the source of product information
Know where product names, descriptions, imagery, variants and prices are maintained. Duplicating data across files and systems can lead to update errors, so plan where each item comes from.
Build categories and filters around your real assortment so customers can find products and your team can keep the catalog current.
Align orders and inventory status
Define how statuses such as received, preparing, shipped or cancelled appear to the store, team and customer. If inventory is managed across channels, agree on the source of truth.
Review the technical capabilities and access conditions of shipping, invoicing or ERP providers before confirming an integration scope.
Include returns and support
Customers need to know where to find order information and how to contact you about a return. Teams also need a clear place to follow up on those requests.
You do not need to automate every operation in the first release. Choose the steps that repeat most often and prioritize future integrations.
